note from bill frischling

The idea for Cagic came after I spent long hours configuring and loading photos of my children on a frame I was giving to my parents. When I spoke to friends, I found they had had much the same experience. I thought to myself: isn’t there a better way to do this?

I found others who understood that frames could be more than a gadget and in 2007 Cagic was born. The pencils were sharpened, the whiteboard cleared, and the brainstorming began.

What we thought would be a challenge was not one at all conceptually:

  • Make a frame anyone can figure out in less than minute from a cold start… without a manual.
  • Make it gorgeous, yet subtle.
  • Make it complement both the pictures it displays and the décor of the room surrounding it

The idea was easy. But much like saying “flying cars!” actually making it happen took a while. The Cagic team spent months going through dozens of designs and countless hours on the small details. (Ask us how long we spent working on the door hinge). Similar effort was put into the software, ensuring that loading pictures takes moments.

The Cagic team loves this frame. Really LOVES this frame. We believe that beautiful memories deserve something beautiful to showcase them, and your time should be spent taking pictures, not figuring out how to show them.

We wanted something we would be proud to give to our parents, and confident that they would never have to call us again to ask “how do you do this?”

We think we got it right. And we hope you agree.
